The M-A Bears are off to a phenomenal start in CCS playoffs as they beat Milpitas High School 45-28 on Saturday. Socks were worn in support of PLAY4PREVENTION, an organization focused around “shining a light on the stigma of teen suicide.”
Varsity player JD Carson explained, “because it was a playoff game, the feeling in the locker room and sidelines were just different. Everybody knows how important the playoffs are and I feel like as a team we responded well to the pressure.”
Jaeden Barker described this game as extra special because “last year, Milpitas knocked us out of the playoffs, and we were glad to play them this year. We practiced very hard in these past two weeks, and our hard work paid off. Even though we had to practice inside the gym due to bad air quality. Now it’s time to focus on Paly.”
PLAY4PREVENTION focuses on helping teens find their passions, and offers a place for teens to discuss and overcome any struggles of the moment. Carson “loved that the team is wearing the PLAY4PREVENTION socks and arm sleeves. It’s an amazing organization to represent and I think it’s great that the team is starting more conversation about the subject.”
