Fetty Wap Performs at Stanford

1 min read

Hip hop artist Fetty Wap performed at the Frost Music and Arts Festival at Frost Amphitheater, Stanford on May 14. The concert also included a performance by hip hop artist Sage The Gemini. Sage The Gemini performed some of his most popular songs such as “Gas Pedal,” “Red Nose,” “College Drop,” and “Don’t You,” among others. Following Sage was Fetty Wap who performed various songs such as “Trap Queen,” “679,” ‘Jimmy Cho,” and “RGF Island.” He was also accompanied by hip hop artist Monty during his performance, a fellow member of their rap group ‘Remy Boyz.’

Both Sage The Gemini and Fetty Wap, while extremely popular, are relatively new artists to the hip hop scene. Sage The Gemini released his ‘Gas Pedal’ Extended Play (EP) album in March 2013, and his only full album ‘Remember Me’ in 2014. Fetty Wap released popular track ‘Trap Queen’ in April 2014, which skyrocketed to the top of the charts where it spent 25 consecutive weeks inside the top ten. He later released his only official album entitled ‘Fetty Wap’ in September 2015.

The concert was a big hit, and many M-A students were in attendance. M-A sophomore Emily St. John said, “I though the concert was super fun! I liked this more than other concerts that I have been to because the outdoor venue was really fun.” Sophomore Leyla Arabian felt similarly and said, “I really liked all the performers, and had a really fun time with my friends. My favorite performance was either ‘Panoramic’ by Sage The Gemini or ‘Trap Queen’ by Fetty Wap.” Arabian was in the front row, and added, “I liked how personal the performers were and how interactive they were with the audience.” Also in the front row was sophomore Leah Marcus who agreed, “My favorite performer was Sage The Gemini because he interacted with the crowd more and was a better performer than Fetty.” She also said, “My favorite song that [Sage The Gemini] performed was ‘College Drop’ or ‘Gas Pedal.’ For Fetty, my favorite was when he performed ‘Again.’”
