Winter Sports End of League Updates

IMG_2883Girls Varsity Basketball: 23-2 overall, 12-0 league, Currently ranked #9 in the Bay Area in the SF Chronicle. Undefeated in league to capture the Bay Division Championship. Won all league games by AT LEAST 20 points. Play in PAL Semi-FinalsFriday at 4:30 at Mills. Next week CCS playoffs begin. Coached by Markisha Coleman and Hayley Grossman.IMG_2794

#5 seed in Open Division. Will play Valley Christian this Friday at 5:30 at Wilcox HS. Win and we would play the following Tuesday, March 1st at Milpitas at either 5:30 or 7:30. If we lose, will will most likely host on Tuesday March 1st at 7:00. If both boys/girls lose, girls play at 5:30, boys at 7:30.
Girls JV Basketball: 19-5, 11-1. Placed 2nd in league. M-A alum Erica Hayes and Campus Aide Ofa Taimani did an outstanding job in their first year leading the JV program.

Mr. Unstoppable - Eric Norton

Boys Varsity Basketball: 23-2, 12-0. Currently ranked #12 in the Bay Area in the SF Chronicle. Undefeated in league to capture the Bay Division Championship. Won all league games by AT LEAST 10 points. Eric Norton league MVP. Play in PAL Semi-Finals Friday at 6:00 at Mills. Next week CCS playoffs begin. Coaches Mike Molieri (Academic Resource Teacher), Nick Fogel (M-A alum and current IA), Adhir Ravipati (Varsity Football coach), and Rich Branning Jr. (M-A alum).

Lucas "Money" Fioretti

#4 seed in Open Division. We play Archbishop Mitty this Friday at 7:30 at Piedmont Hills HS. Win and we would play the following Tuesday, March 1st at a site TBD. If we lose, will will most likely host on Tuesday March 1st at 7:00. If both boys/girls lose, girls play at 5:30, boys at 7:30.

 

 

Boys JV Basketball: 21-3, 11-1. Won PAL Bay Division Title (again) and won the Burlingame Lions Tournament in the pre-season. Another outstanding job by our own Craig Carson (PE Teacher).

Boys Freshmen Basketball: 22-2, 11-0. Captured PAL Freshmen Championship. Coaches Harry Bell (Former Hillview PE teacher/AD) and Art Weil.

 

Girls Varsity Soccer: 11-4-2, 9-2-2. Have secured a 2nd place finish in the PAL Bay Division, Highest league finish in the past 11+ years. CCS playoffs next week. Coached by Jason Luce and Paul Snow (Social Science/AD).

Girls JV Soccer: 15-1-1, 12-1-0. Currently tied for 1st place with Woodside and will play Woodside today to determine league championship. Coached by Jason Luce and Paul Snow (Social Science/AD).

#1 seed in Division I. Will host Gunn at 7:00 on Wednesday. If we win, we will play Saturday at either 1:00 or 7:00 site TBD vs either Carlmont/Piedmont Hills.

Soccer vs SequoiaBoys Varsity Soccer: 13-3-2, 9-2-2. Defeated Aragon yesterday, 3-0, to secure at least a share of PAL Bay Division Championship with one game to go in regular season. CCS Playoffs next week. Coached by Leo Krupnik and Imaan Kerchgani.

#3 seed in Open Division. Will host Homestead on Saturday night at 7:00. If we win, we play Wednesday March 2nd at 4:30 or 7:00, site TBD but it will not be at home.

Boys JV Soccer: 13-1, 11-1. Currently tied for 1st place in Bay Division with Carlmont. Will play Carlmont Friday to determine league champion. Coached by Gideon Obonyo.

Boys Third Week

Wrestling: 4-2. Captured 2nd place in PAL Ocean Division. Girls placed 2nd overall in the PAL Tournament qualifying for CCS. Current CCS Rankings for the Girls in their respective weight classes: Fola Akinola #1, Chelsea Wilson and Livienna Lie #2, Abby Griesen #4, Lauren McDonnell and Evelyn Calhoun #7. Nick Ozden qualified for CCS for the boys. CCS is this Friday/Saturday. Largest roster team has had in years. Coached by Phil Hoang, Daniel Williams, and Cliff Olsen.

Placed 4th overall in CCS Championships. Chelsea Wilson (106) and Fola Akinola (160) each won CCS Championships and Abby Ericson (189) placed third. The Girls State meet is in Visalia this Friday/Saturday.

 

 

 

 

Thanks very much for your continued support of our student-athletes, it plays an integral roles in their success on the field/court/mat.

An awesome Winter Season to say the least. Mitty has teams in all 4 Open Divisions and the only other school with teams in 3 Open Divisions is St. Francis. Palo Alto has both soccer teams in the Open Division but no other public school has more than 1 team in the 4 Open Divisions.

Two Corrections:
Boys Hoops is at 4:30 tomorrow and girls at 6:00.
Basketball is the South Division, not Bay Division.
