Senior Farewell Features Talented Student Performers

1 min read

A handful of seniors delivered their final goodbyes to the M-A community in the form of musical performances at the annual Senior Farewell, on Thursday, May 26. The seniors in attendance wore their graduation gowns and entered in a traditional procession to symbolically kick off the senior week activities. The performances ranged in genre and style, from AJ Perrine and Chloé Mauvais’s operatic performance of Après Une Rêve to a group rendition of the Haka featuring cameos from teachers Lisa Otsuka and Christina Galliano.

Eloise Carter Walne sang “Anything Goes.”

Mauvais said of her performance, “I have been waiting for this performance ever since I knew what it was; just like the yam slam, it seems like a milestone in high school and an integral part of the final chapter of senior year. It’s bittersweet!”

Eloise Carter Walne, accompanied by Amanda Kelly on guitar, performed “Anything Goes” by Cole Porter, the same song she sang as an eighth grader performing in the musical Anything Goes. She saw it as a fitting end to her high school performing career. Walne stated, “I learned how to advocate for myself in high school, I figured out how to work with people in difficult situations. My Senior Farewell performance is, to me, the best way to say goodbye to this part of my life. By singing I feel like I get to say thank you and good luck to everyone: classmates, teachers, but most importantly all of the people I didn’t have the opportunity to get to know.”

Mr. Giambruno live-streamed the event, and those who missed it can watch it here.
